firstly both pc's must have Wi-Fi enabled NICs and u must know what kind of security you wish to implement. I suggest u leave it open since it is a pc to pc connection. then one of the systems must act as the server and the other as the client.
Meaning that one one system (i.e the server) you should set up a network (adhoc network) when it asks for a name choose any name, when it asks for authentication, leave it open but in the case of XP u must put either WEP or WPA security (Don't allow all these things confuse you they are just standards of security for wireless networks). After setting up the network, on the client you should be able to see the network signal then connect, you'll be prompted for a security key enter the same key you set up on the server and u r CONNECTED.
If u want the two pc's to browse the internet via one modem then connect the modem to one of the pcs and go to the properties of the connection~sharing tab and tick the box "allow other network users, " then both pcs should be able to browse

if you're using window vista,

click

Start>
network>
network and sharing center> this can be tricky to find so check below "File Edit View Tools" and u'll see it
manage wireless networks>
Add>
Create an Ad hoc network : click next and type in any name u wish and set the security type to "none" or use wep if u want cos wpa may confuse u.
if u choose wep ( enter any password with 10 digits, numerical or alpha-numerical doesn't matter as long as u can remember it)

if u choose none,
Check the "save this network" box and click next

and you are done, if u have an internet connection active on the computer already, it will prompt u to share internet connection or not, do wat u please and ure done, however if after the connection u wana share internet later, see the post above me for steps tongue

after all this, just go to the second PC and search like you would for any wireless network, u'll see ur new network, connect and surf all the porn u wan cheesy

try to do this with the pc that has vista cos it is always easier, if both comps have Xp, have one upgraded to vista cos its a lot harder to explain on xp n i cant type anymore tongue
