Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has stressed the importance of prayer, as the only avenue through human beings can get their heart desires from God.

Akeredolu made this known, during a courtesy visit by the National Spiritual Leader of Ahmadiya Muslim Jamat for Nigeria, Equitoria Guinea, Chad and Cameroon, Alhaji (Dr) Moshood Fashola, to his office in Akure.

He thanked the Amir and members of the movement for the visit and implored them to always pray for his government at all times.

“We need your prayers and sincerely, we are product of prayers. We are not here on our own. God is the only one that gives power. He puts you in a position that no one can change.

“That is why it is not good for people to be too ambitious. Only God determines when someone is due for a position and not self decision. God puts people in power and some of us are confident, that whatever God has programmed to do, He will surely do and nobody can change it.

“Some of us don’t know the God we serve. He is a God that is so consistent and never changes. The moment He decrees something, He will surely make it come true. I believe this is the belief of everyone here too”, he said.

Akeredolu further explained that consequent upon his assumption of office, agriculture has been given priority not only to create jobs, but to feed the people and as well export these products to other countries.

The Governor who maintained that under the Buhari-led Federal Government, importation of rice has reduced drastically, said by next year, the state will join the league of states producing rice in the nation.

Earlier, Dr Fashola admonished the Governor to embrace agriculture in other to guarantee food security for the generality of people of the Sunshine State.

He stressed that if agriculture is fully embraced, famine will become a thing of the past in the state and in the country at large.

He explained that the Ahmadiya Muslim Movement which has its Headquarters in London, has been in existence for a long period of time with the aim of preaching peace and the tenets of Islam as directed by the Holy Prophet to the world.

The Amir and Spiritual Head of the movement, while stressing that no man is bigger than another as the Lord of the creation is one, appreciated the humility and cheerfulness of the Governor.

Fashola commended the Governor for appointing muslims in his government and assured him of their readiness to always pray for him to succeed in office.

While enjoining the Governor to ensure he creates basic life sustainable projects for people of the state such as agriculture, he expressed optimism that the present administration will achieve this for the state.

The Governor was later presented with Quran and other inspirational Muslim journals by the spiritual Head of the Ahmadiya Muslim Movement.
