yeah welcome to the second episode of creating an attractive blog with blogger, I appreciate the positive comments I received from you guys, and am also happy for those guys that created their blogs through the help of my previous tutorial, at least they prove to me that my work is very useful.

So without wasting much time today, we are going to be customizing our default blogger template to something attractive, you know one of the things that keeps your user on your site is the design, if your blog design is odd and not that beautiful, the bounce rate of your site definitely will be high,must especially if the blog is hard to navigate, if you look at most big blog or website today, their design contribute at least 40% to their success while the rest percentage comes from their content and what they have to offer.

Fore the sake of novice or beginners that are here, I have tried my best to draft this tutorial in the way you don’t need to code anything, all you just have t do is drag and drop.

REQUIRMENTS

You don’t really need anything special for this tutorial, all you just need to do is pay attention and follow every step, I will advise you follow the steps one after the other, no need to jump to step two if you have not understand step one, I think that’s all.

NOW LET’S GET TO BUSINESS

Ok enough of the hyping let’s get to work, but am sorry let me just quickly chip this in, in this tutorial we are going to be designing blog that looks exactly like my blog, www.onostechblog..com you can check it out first to know the look and feel of what we will be doing here today, alright now that you know where we are heading, it’s time to tight your seat belt and sip your beer, because the train is about to move.

STEP 1. Log in to your blogger site, now you will have something like this on your dashboard.

Now scroll down to theme option, I guess you can see the area highlighted on that picture, and click on it, it will take you to another page, which is actually the theme page, there are couple of things you can do here, in this place you can select from the numerous default themes that blogger have, all you just have to do is scroll down the page and choose the theme that you want, preview and then save, however you can still install a fresh theme, all you just have to do is download theme as a zip format to your laptop and install, I know you are somehow confuse, relax, am going to take you through the steps one after the other. However the page you are now, should look like this.

I have already told you what we can do on this page, there are still some couple of things that can be done her, but we are not going into that one now because I promise to make this tutorial very simple for the beginners. So here we are not going to be choosing among the default themes available, rather we are going to be installing a fresh theme. Now just like wordpress, blogger also have lot of themes available online either in premium or free form, however some premium themes are some how cheap while others are unnecessarily high, you can get a cheap blogger theme for just 9 to 10 dollars, but no matter the amount, they are still very cheap compare to that of wordpress that starts from 20, 50 and above. But the good thing about blogger theme is that most premium themes have free version and in most cases there might be little or no difference between the premium and free versions apart from the credit at the end of the blog just like mine now, lol don’t worry I won’t buy a premium theme, I will rather create one by myself, so there are many websites that offer blogger themes, my favorite is Way2themes as you can see, it is their theme am using now, and that is what I will be using to teach you guys in this tutorial, though you can change it at any time.

STEP 2. we are going to download the theme from way2theme. Visit the website download page here www.way2themes.com now there are lots of themes there, but the we actually need is one called sophie, here is the download link to the sophie theme

Unlike wordpress, blogger does not accept zip format except XML formats, so after unzipping the file, you will see a lot of file to, like documentation and all that, but we are not interested in those ones look for the one that ends with an xml extension, just like this one.

Now take note of where the unzipped files are and the go back to your browser, now on the theme page click on the backup/restore button at the top of the page, just like this.

After clicking on it, it will redirect you to this page.

Now search for that sophie file that ends with XML and upload, after it has Finnish uploading, go back to your blog and refresh it, lo and behold you will see different and beautiful look on it.
