FG may pull down Jibowu, Costain bridges for Lagos-Ibadan rail project

By Newsdesk

The Federal Government has hinted that the Jibowu and Costain bridges would give way for the laying of Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge rail line which would start December, 2017.

Meanwhile, the government has tasked the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to ensure adequate security for officials of China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) and others handling construction works across the country.

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, gave the hint on Monday in Lagos when he met with the Steering Committee of the project and CCECC officials.

To ensure easy removal of the facilities, the minister noted that CCECC has commenced consultation with Lagos State Water Corporation (LSWC), Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation( NNPC), among others, to facilitate relocation of water and gas pipe lines that were parallel to railway line.
