A Statement From Punch by lannre(m): 1:15pm On Mar 20, 2010 |
A statement from PUNCH By PUNCH, Published: Saturday, 20 Mar 2010 Following the forced resignation of the immediate past Editor of Punch, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, from the company on Monday, 22nd of February, 2010, Mr. Ayorinde wrote a petition dated 1st of March to the directors of the company. The petition surfaced on the Internet on 5th of March. In reporting the petition, the website made some introductory remarks which were clearly intended to cause disaffection among the directors of Punch. Mr. Ayorinde‘s account of the circumstances of his forced resignation are incomplete and inaccurate. For example, he said he had never received a query from the company throughout his period as an employee. Yet, as recently as September 2009, disciplinary action was taken against him by sending him on suspension for two (2) weeks. Furthermore, Mr. Ayorinde, in his petition, made some serious allegations about his immediate boss, Mr. Azubuike Ishiekwene, the Executive Director, Publications. The board is investigating these allegations. - Chairman http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art20100320462910 |
