Research findings have proven that a newly hired employee will decide within 10 days of joining the organization whether to stay or leave the company and begin to look for another job. I have had cause to interact with a new employee of a company who upon an assumption of duties two weeks after had started sending out his CVs in search of another job opportunity.

When asked why, he simply said “My spirit does not settle here, it was not about the pay”, according to him the salary was okay but “I am not just at home here”.

I have written about EMPLOYEE EXIT MANAGEMENT in an earlier article, where I highlighted the different reasons why an employee would resign from an organization, however, it can be very harrowing an experience for an organization and a new hire discovered after a long exercise of recruitment and placement to find out that an inappropriate onboarding process would scuttle the entire process.

In the following chain article, practical solutions have been proffered on how to successfully onboard and integrate new staff or employee into an organization’s work structure, environment and culture in such a way that allows for flexibility of expressing one’s knowledge, skills and ability (KSA), at the sometimes, promote employee engagement.

This article should help both the employee learn the strategies that will allow him or her be fully integrated into the organization and at the same time, it would help the organization adopt practices that will enable her to get maximum productivity from the employee thereby eliminating recruitment-related costs and staff turnover.
