Workers in Kaduna State have staged a protest in the state capital, against alleged disengagement of over 21,000 teachers by the state government.
The workers led by Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), President, Ayuba Wabba are demanding that the government should rescind its decision or have the entire labour force to contend with.
<
Despite ban on street protest, the workers were seen in great numbers carrying placards with various inscriptions on major roads in the metropolis, causing traffic gridlock.
The workers also marched to the Kaduna State House of Assembly complex to lodge their complain to the lawmakers.
At state NLC secretariat located along Independence way in the state capital, the workers demand that the Kaduna State government should not sack the teachers for failing to pass the competency test administered on them sometime in June this year.
They argued that government has no constitutional powers to organise such examination for teachers, saying only the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria has the mandate to do so.
The workers have therefore given the state government two weeks to cancel the planned dismissal of teachers, or they will embark on an indefinite strike.
Addressing the workers, Mr Waba assures them that the leadership of the NLC will support them and ensure that they get what they deserved from the state government.

Foolish teachers for me pass mark for primary 4 test for teachers shld be 90% nt 75% idiots

Public Primary n secondary schools ve gone to the dogs if nt for private primary n secondary schools we would have been doomed long ago. Even a barrow pusher dnt send his children to public primary n secondary school BC of d decay in the system.

El rufai is a very courageous man n will take a bold step to get things right. Sack all the idiotic teachers. Employ young brilliant graduates to take those positions.

This shld be implemented in the 36 States of Nigeria if NUT disturbs the process sack all teachers n employ new ones

Sentiments will not help us, no sentiments at all. The only thing is that the teachers that failed shld be allowed to re apply and compete in the new recruitment
