The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has said it would deploy 11,000 personnel for the November 18 governorship election in Anambra.State commandant, Mr. John Ahwen, told journalists in Awka yesterday that seven states – Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi, Rivers, Edo, Delta and Imo would send officers to ensure adequate security during the poll. Ahwen disclosed that the deputy commandant-general (operations), Mr. Hillary Madu, would be ground commander and would be assisted by two assistant commandants-generals. He said the corps would deploy 30 dogs, four drones, ambulances and a medical team, in addition to 115 vehicles, 15 of which would be used in the riverine areas of the state. The commandant urged voters to come out en masse and participate in the exercise without fear of molestation.“The NSCDC is ready. We are fully prepared. Our men will be on ground to make sure that there is a peaceful environment. The people of the state should feel free and secure to exercise their franchise during the election because the security agencies are out to protect them,” he said, calling for the cooperation of all stakeholders. http://www.akelicious.com/2017/11/nscdc-to-deploy-11000-personnel-for.html
