Nigeria is a jungle, sometimes it makes you wonder why it keeps from going under. The power play and show of force shown by the Minister's entourage is very typical of Nigeria. The minister wants to send a message to the governor that a superior power is visiting the state and that he should take notice.The irony of the whole thing is that the same way that some members of the governor's entourage were brutalized, humiliated and dehumanized is the same fate that bedevils the citizens of the state each and every time the governor travels with his entourage in the state.

These innocent citizens are harrassed and beaten to a pulp and often times their personal property-vehicles- are damaged by these uncivilized and unprofessional hooligans simply because they are caught in a traffic snarl due to no fault of their own. This type of violence and human subjugation that used to be reserved and meted to ordinary citizens has begun to reach people in higher places depending on whose power is superior. Today it was the governor who bore the brunt of it, tomorrow it might be the minister, thus "No condition is permanent."

I have said all these simply to get Nigerians especially those in power to realize that being human and humble are good virtues. We should all strive to be nice to people we meet on our way to the top because on our way down -when the entitlements of the office we held are gone, we are bound to meet some of those people and depending on how we treated them would eventually determine how we are received and treated . When Amaechi ran to Ghana in 2017, it was Wike who fought the fight of making Amaechi governor by the court.

As then Gov. Amaechi's chief of staff, Wike was behind every policy of Amaechi in Amaechi's first tenure. He was the engine room of the administration and any person who wanted some meets Wike's condition before approval.

The only thing Wike has done since taking over power in 2015 is road construction. The only reason why movement within inner Port Harcourt is easy is because of Wike's commitment to roads.

Wike may not be investing in any other industry or sector, but he is on top of road construction, and continued from where Amaechi stopped. on this particular road, Amaechi abandoned it in 2011/2012. Two short bridges at Nwaja on this road completed by Wike. Two long bridges by slaughter on this road completed by Wike. The Elelenwo/Woji bridge on this toad completed by Wike. Garrison to Slaughter part of this road which is about 60% of the road completed by Wike. Slaughter to YKC which is about 10% of the road completed by Amaechi. YKC to Elelenwo bridge completed by Amaechi which is about less than 10% of the road. Elelenwo bridge to Elelenwo axis of the road massively under construction with massive under ground drainage.

A bloody clash was on Saturday recorded in Port Harcourt, Rivers State between the security convoys of Governor Nyesom Wike and that of the Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi.

Security officials of Governor Wike allegedly attacked the convoy of the Transportation Minister.

Amaechi’s escort details were, however, unlucky during the 3 p.m. attack, as one of them, Sgt. Eteng Ewelu, was battered, with blood on his face, while the AK-47 rifle of Sgt. Princewill Ubaji was snatched, while being forcibly disarmed.

Wike, through his Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, in his reaction, however, claimed that personnel of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS) and soldiers attached to the minister of transportation attacked his convoy, while allegedly attempting to assassinate him.



Report of the sad incident was immediately lodged at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the Rivers Police Command, headed by Zaki Ahmed, while Ubaji’s rifle had not been recovered, with Ewelu and other injured policemen still receiving treatment in undisclosed hospitals in Port Harcourt, as at press time.

When contacted for his reaction through the telephone yesterday evening, the Rivers Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Nnamdi Omoni, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), stated that he would find out the details.

He asked our reporter to call back in ten minutes, but when contacted twice, after thirty minutes, he did not take the calls, and he had not called back, as at press time.

Nwakaudu said: “Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, on Saturday escaped assassination, as Special Anti-Robbery Squad operatives and soldiers of the Nigerian Army in the motorcade of the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, attacked his convoy.

“The governor, who was on project inspection, was attacked at Nwanja Junction on Trans-Amadi Road. The SARs personnel and soldiers in the minister’s convoy hit down the governor’s escort rider and attacked the policemen in the pilot car. Mr Debewari, Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the minister of transportation, supervised the attack, which included damage of cameras held by journalists.

“Also part of the attack was the Commander of F-SARS in Rivers State, Mr. Akin Fakorede (a Chief Superintendent of Police), who received the minister of transportation at the Port Harcourt International Airport and accompanied on his trip.



“After the attack, the Rivers State governor continued with his inspection of projects. Governor Wike was not harmed, despite the attack. The minister of transportation had over 50 personnel of F-SARS, soldiers and mobile policemen in his motorcade.”

The reaction of Amaechi’s Spokesman, David Iyofor, was still being expected as at press time.
