JUNGLE JUSTICE A ZERO JUSTICE IN OUR SOCIETY.

Capital punishment has been one of the paramount ethical trends in our contemporary society as regards the best punishment to give offenders to serve as deterrent to others. Nevertheless, punishment is very much relative from one society to another. Over time, majority hold the firm position that death should be the reward for any form of critical offense majorly rape, murder and stealing with no iota of procrastination nor passion. One of the paramount reward is mostly regard to be mob action, in other word Jungle Justice.

Unequivocally the fate of offender shouldn't be delegated to the populace as most people won't hesitate to show their prowess in advocating justice as they stone or burn offenders to ashes without following the laid down protocol. This is very much barbaric, devilish and shouldn't be embraced in our society as it connotes anarchy(Lawless society). They should rather do the needful by following the law which is handling them over to the appropriate authority which is the police. Subsequently, charged to court to get their punishment.

Jungle Justice as a punishment will be the main point of this write up due to its aggravation and controversy. Jungle Justice has done more harm to our society than good as most people are being killed by infuriated mob without patience to know maybe offenders really deserve death at all or not. There are series of case tantamount to this controversial issues. For example, In the year 2015, a young boy of ten was killed via jungle justice somewhere in Lagos just because he stole a cup of garri due to hunger. Candidly, it's really pathetic as the punishment look too harsh for the minor offense. We have the reformative system of punishment whereby offenders are punished in a way that will prompt their repentance. Why can't they subscribe to that ?

Nevertheless, the deplorable aspect is that big thiefs peculating billions are been celebrated here in our contemporary societies while minor thiefs being lynched or sentenced to death by hanging as I have written to condemn series of time. To elucidate more on the mob's breach of law, an ugly incident erupted in the South Eastern part of Nigeria on 20th of August this year, whereby a young lad was grip for stealing and sent to heaven subsequently. The angry mob never exhibited iota of reluctance in stoning the young man to death astutely without giving him room to explain anything as regards motive or how to refund. This is a gross abuse of humanity per say.

Its crystal clear that the young man has really done something unjustifiable, but jungle justice isn't the panacea to mitigate stealing in our society. Pondering on it with zero sentiment will definitely make us realize that the mob should be punished also with charge of murder. I'm sure no one will advocate jungle justice if one of his/her family member is being caught as they will rather try to halt the heinous act.

It looks so barbaric when people take laws to their hand by lynching fellow human being without thinking that every one is fallible (capable of making mistake at a particular point). It could also be recalled that four Nigerian students of UNIPORT were held to death ransome through jungle justice in Port Harcourt three to four years ago for robbery allegations they didn't committed. They were hijacked by the angry inhabitants of the particular society while passing by after the incessant raid of their properties and labeled thief and subsequently burned to death without giving them room to explain anything. Evidently, Jungle Justice to me is sheer injustice and threat to our co-existence.

Should be the case this people really have immense apathy towards stealing and want to vent their disapproval in a pragmatic way, confidence should be put in place by protesting and lynching those corrupt political leaders too ?. Reverse is the case, we adulate them after looting substantial money reserved for the progression of our society while sending our fellows to heaven for stealing token instead of leaving the government to handle it.

Here ethical question should be ask within ourselves and the society on how justifiable the act is, tantamount to ethics the theory of rightness and wrongness (Joad) in contemporary philosophy. Is it really right to take law to our hands ? Is it really wrong to take it to our hands ? Probably jungle justice is halt as culprit is being handed over to the police, will they be punished well with zero nepotism ?. The main fact spurring jungle justice has been the negligence on the part of appropriate authority to perform their role in punishing them without bigotry, as most of them compromise standards and veracity after being giving money as their emancipation is certain aftermath.

As regards my take on this issue; its is very anomalous as advocating it further will be unscrupulous and detrimental to our society. It should be scrapped totally and subsequently implement a law proscribing the act. What's your own opinion on this ?
