The state of osun also has the least povery outside/after lagos. This is nothing but fact, but detractors will soon be here to tell us otherwise. Verry funny people who claim their region is the most developed and also the most neglected. SW is the glory of Nigeria. 12 Likes 1 Share |

Osun workers are sacrificing a lot. May their children enjoy the benefits of their selflessness. I also hope the state's finances get better soon so they can have some deserved relief. 2 Likes |

Ah no talk am? Detractors are here already with their ussual nonsense, see one above. But who takes them seriously? Go to osun or any sw state and you'll see thousands of folks from SE there, their migration to SW is unconnected to the progress of the region, but the ignorant ones are on the internet 24/7 posting rubbish. 9 Likes |

These floor kissing slum dwellers will not kill us with lies & propaganda. A state with idp camp littering everywhere., how can people suviving with aid donor be competitive enough? A state with the second biggest slum capital, in africa after Ibadan. With over 75% of the houses having no toilet facility or batroom. A state where its capital is littered with mud houses, thatched & brown roofs .........oh, no no no, no one mentions the gorry site of Osun villages that depict or resembles what we see in foreign horror movies. A state that has consistentely came last in every human development index, both education wise. These propaganda marchant are not helping the poor Osunite who are expecting free donor from rest of us. 2 Likes

SouthEastFacts: Feel free to rubbish a report -sponsored and made by credible bodies- because of your perception. However, the UNDP, World Bank, NBS, Oxford, and now the NCCN have all said the same thing - that Southwest Nigeria is the least imporverished region and Osun has one of the lowest amount of poor people nationwide. Now, would I rather believe them or SouthEastFacts who's job on Nairaland, apparently is to propagate 'pro-south east' reports and discredit 'anti-south east' ones? Blue3k2: I read the competitiveness report the NCCN published in all the various categories and these metrics don't represent any hard data and the methodology is hardly fool-proof. In economic metrics, are war-ravaged and impoverished Borno and Yobe really ahead of Delta who were 1st in human capital and is Sokoto (ranked 3rd from 36 states plus FCT) really ahead of Ogun or Anambra? Really? Does the same Katsina that ranks near bottom in education (35th nationally) and infrastructure (34th) really rank 1st in business sophistication? Does Borno really rank ahead of Imo and Oyo in health (Imo probably has as many hospitals and health professionals as the whole North East)? Does Abia, easily in the top 5 of the filthiest states in Nigeria, really rank in the top 10 of Nigeria in waste management ("clean and green" Abuja ranks 18th). Is Yobe, with over a million people displaced in IDP's really ranked higher than Anambra in stability and security and how did Bayelsa end up right at the bottom in 37th, even while the Niger-Delta militancy capital, Delta state, ranks one of the highest at 7th? Just because some people, for tribalistic reasons, childishly dismiss reports that don't favour them doesn't somehow mean the data is beyond reproach. For starters, if you compared this results with similar studies on the same states from other bodies, you'll see a wild swing in rankings of several states. It's impossible for reliable data to yoyo in such a fashion. |
