The House of Representatives on Tuesday rejected move
to observe a minute silence in honour of late
environmental activist, Ken Saro Wiwa, saying that such
move would open up controversy.

The House however condemned in strong terms the
continuing pollution in Ogoni land and other parts of the
Niger delta.


What hypocrisy. You decide not to honor someone but yet claim to support what he stood for. Shame on Nigerian politicians from all regions.

Only an insane person would think anyone who doesn't support Biafra is anti-igbo.What makes Ken Wiwa different from Ojukwu?Wiwa fought for justice for his people but some chest beating heroes want us to believe that Wiwa's unbelief in Biafra was a sin,good riddance.

Everyone must follow the path laid by the Igbos only.

Anyone with a contrary agenda or ambition is an enemy who has betrayed his slavery to the Igbo.

Yet these same Igbo clansmen cannot show us 1 single event or scenario where they followed the agenda or ambitions of anyone else.

It is their birth right to dictate political agenda to others, while they even reject their own inspired policies the moment they have lost the power they planned to perpetuate with such policies, a la inseparable Nigeria championed by Azikiwe and unitary government of Aguiyi-Ironsi.

Very selfish and self-entitled humans.

Every policy of the Igbos to dominate turned out to be their source of agony. Even the economic blockade during the war was taken right out of Azikiwe's playbook when he outlined how the North would be punished to suffer if they attempted the illegality of separation, the very same sad fate his own people fell into.

Wiwa made up with Igbos before he died. He appeared at a meeting of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Enugu
and made apologies. His pleas were accepted and that was it. But I think Igbo leaders should have pleaded for him
more forcefully beofre Abacha killed him.

But bringing a motion for a one minute silence in his memory is nothing wrong. Eventhough the killing of the Ogoni 6 was heavily linked to him by govt, I believe we all know what he fought for and the principles he represented.

If Nigeria were to be a place where truth will ever see the light of day, reps from all sections of the country ought to be passing a motion mandating govt to immediately mobilise to site for the Ogoni clean up and other developmental projects around the area.
