No one is saying anything about Yobe state. I am so scared to even travel. I don't know what to do. Never knew i would be given there and now i am stranded. Is that state really safe for camping? Is there any direct bus from PH or onitsha. Someone should help because i am confused if to go on with this posting.

Please oo how long is the journey from onitcha(anambra state) to Yobe state? And possibly the cost and how to navigate to the camp.

An average of 10k will take you to Yobe from Onitsha. Get a luxurious from Upper Weka to Kano. From Kano you embark 5/7 hours to Yobe. Perhaps from Onitsha, you will get to Kano very early in the morning, by 4am or 5am. Stop at Naibawa park or Ungwar Ukwu. Then around 6am /7am you continue your Journey to Yobe state. Yobe camp was closed years back because of Bokoharam activity which made the government to make use of the Neighboring state. However, l am not sure of the present situation, you might need to verify more as soon as you get to Kano state before you embark on your Journey to Yobe. All in all, there is relatively peace in Yobe now unlike 2/ 3 years ago. Endeavour to go with your cardigan, the Harmantan at its peak now in the North.

Yobe used to be relatively peaceful before the advent of Bokoharam. From PH, definitely no direct bus to Yobe. The options you have are (1) You can go to Aba and board a luxurious bus going to Kano state, then from Kano, you get another Bus going to Yobe state. (2) if you are in PH, you can also come to Warri, then you join the small bus going to Kano State as early as 6am/ 7am. Then you get to Kano around 8pm or 9pm same day. Then you can lodge in an hotel for the night. Very early the following day, you continue your Journey to Yobe state which is another 6/7 hours from Kano to Yobe. However, you might need to redeploy to another state after your orientation. Though Yobe is relatively peaceful now unlike 2/3years ago when Boko haram was at peak.

Corpers going to Yobe or Borno state from Onitsha should just go to GUO or Young shall grow park at Onitsha and board direct bus to Maiduguri. Yobe corpers will drop at Damaturu while borno corpers will drop at Maiduguri. The bus departs Onitsha by 12pm and arrives early morning of the following day.

You have given a better description on how to get to Yobe by boarding direct bus from Onitsha. However, my only reservation is plying from Azare, Potiskum and Damaturu road in the dead hours of the night. I wouldn't subscribe to that for security reason for now. That roads for now usually look deserted at night. So I will still advise those going to Yobe, to get to Kano first and sleep over, then the following day in the morning they can embark on the journey to Yobe.

To all NySc great minds going to camp soon, and have been posted to Lagos, Self Contain Accommodation is available for a very good price! It's close to Iyana-Ipaja ( Ile-Ipo )
