Nollywood actor and Democratic People’s Congress, DPC, governorship candidate for the Anambra election, Yul Edochie has denied stepping down from the ongoing election in the state.

Mr. Edochie was reacting to a video circulating online that he stepped down from the race and also backed APGA candidate and the incumbent governor of the state, Mr. Willie Obiano.

Online media platform, Leaders NG posted the video on the micro-blogging site, Twitter with the caption: “Yul Edochie quits governorship race, endorses APGA candidate and incumbent governor, Willie Obiano”.


Apparently displeased with the news, the Nollywood actor took to Twitter to debunk the story, noting that he still in the race and that the video appearing to show him backing Mr. Obiano was shot two years ago.

The DPC candidate threatened legal action against Leaders NG if the footage is not removed and an apology tendered.

” You people should verify things before posting to avoid being sued to court. This is a movie I did 2 years ago where I played the role of Governor Willie”, he tweeted.
