Results from the Anambra State governorship election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Saturday, November 18, is being collated.

The election took place in all 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state which are: Anambra East, Anambra West, Ayamelum, Ogbaru, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Oyi, Awka North, Awka South, Anaocha, Dunukofia, Idemili North, Idemili South, Njikoka, Aguata, Ekwusigo, Ihiala, Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Orumba North, Orumba South.

INEC says Anambra has a total of 2,158,171 registered voters; 117 Registration Area Centres (RACs), 4,608 polling units (Pus) and 731 voting points (VPs) in the 326 wards in the state.

Although, 37 candidates and political parties are vying for the number one seat in the state, which includes 5 women for governorship and 8 vying for the office of Deputy Governor, unofficial returns from the polling wards and units released so far show that there are three leading candidates.

They are: incumbent Governor Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Oseloka Obaze of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Tony Nwoye of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

At Ekwueme hall polling units of Ukpo, Dunukofia LGA, home of Prince Arthur Eze and the sponsor of the APC Candidate, the APC scored 409 votes, APGA 102 and PDP 15.

Minister for Labour and Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige in his home, Nkwoide ward 1 consolidated his stronghold there with the APC scoring 152, APGA 68 and PDP 22.
