Igbos In Lagos Pledge Allegiance To Gani Adams: The Facts by SouthEastFacts: 11:51pm On Nov 22, 2017
Business post recently published a news with a sensational headline claiming that Igbos in Lagos pledged allegiance to Gani Adams. If an official visit to an ally translates to pledging allegiance then Business post needs to have their editorial policy re-examined.

On Feb, 2016, the newly corronated Ooni of Ife, the Paramount Ruler of Yoruba paid courtesy visit to Igbo billionaire Prince Arthur Eze in his mansion in Anambra.

Can we safely conclude that the Ooni pledged allegiance to the Anambran Prince? Yes, if you believe also Ndi Eze Ndi Igbo paid allegiance to Gani Adams.

It is only someone myopic that won't be able to identify the hidden signature of that visit.

Gani Adams is the National Coordinator of OPC, a separatist movement seeking for an independent Yoruba state to be called Republic of Oduduwa. He has never for once hidden his support for IPOB and their quest for a Biafran Republic and their is a long standing relationship between him and the East.

In him, Ndi Igbos see an ally and their is need for them to support him and strengthen relations. This is reflected in the number of Eze Ndi Igbo in Lagos that paid such visit.

In his words "the Igbos, the Yorubas crave their identity, even as he pledged that he would love to maintain the cordial relationship that had existed between him and the Easterners, submitting that Igbos never constituted any threat to Yoruba land"

Allies do visit allies, and this does not constitute pledge of allegiance.

It is important to point out that the article was written by Dipo Olowookere, exclusively carried by Business Post Nigeria, no other mainstream media reported this and published by Business Posts two days after the visits happened, at the back of recent statement by the newly elected Governor of Anambra that Anambra played a role in the current status of Lagos.

One thing we don't understand is why they have to allow two days to pass before publishing the news and why they are the only carrier of the news. It is not as if they are better than The Sun, The Nations and even Vanguard.

An extract from the so-called article reads: the onus rests on the Aare to give them (The Ezes) the direction that pleases him for them to follow.
Who said that? The author didn't specified. According to him, the Ezes said.

Somebody should remind Dipo that it is against Igbo culture for an authorized person to speak on behalf of a group. So 'the Ezes said' is not possible, especially where Royalties are involved.

While other statements were properly credited to Eze Ojodu, the official spoke-person of the group, that extract was not even in quotes. Meaning it was a product of the authors imaginations and wishful thinking.

It is proper for some one to remind Dipo that a congratulatory visit is different from allegiance pledging visit.

Ndi Eze Ndi Igbo never pledge allegiance to any Gani, but merely paid a courtesy visit to support an ally, the same way Ooni of Ife visited Arthur Eze, Bola Tinubu without waiting for them to visit him at the Palace.
