Robinho has been sentenced to nine years in jail by an Italian court after being found guilty of sexual assault in a Milanese disco in 2013.

The assault took place on January 22, 2013, when the former Real Madrid forward was contracted to AC Milan.

Robinho along with five other men, have been found guilty of sexually assaulting a 22-year-old woman at a nightclub in Milan.

The Brazilian, now 33, is currently playing in his homeland with Atletico Mineiro.

Though he has been found guilty, the Italian justice system allows for several levels of appeal.

Because of that, the verdict is effectively put on hold until the appeals process is completed and no sentence will be enforced until then.
