CONTD.
decentralization in igbo politics came with its pros and cons. The ADVANTAGES includes:

- Discouraging and Dismantling Godfatherism in the Igbo political landscape. In these, no man can monopolize power in igboland. He or she will surely be brought down. Igbos cherish their political independence.

- Enhanced Equal opportunity and a level playing field in our politicking. It promotes dynamism. Any body can vy for any political post provided he meets the general criteria.

- Grassroot participation. In these, just about anybody can have his or her say without fear of offending any political top shot.

- Political Variety and Broadened scope. Yes, the electorate can access and assess different political views and ideologies thoroughly without having to see things solely from the view of a politically privileged few.

DISADVANTAGES

- it is capable of hindering political unison when it matters most. The 2011 and 2015 election however, proved that Igbos despite their individualistic tendencies can speak with one voice without being influenced from external factors as seen in 1979, 1993, 1999, 2003 and 2007 elections.

- it may hinder political stability as witnessed in several political offices ceded to the Igbo e.g Senate presidency, etc.

In CONCLUSION, our political tradition of decentralization can be a potent force to attain relevancy and variety if well harnessed.

What's your opinion? cheesy
