10 things you can buy with Lionel Messi's whopping new €700 million release clause

Here's a look at what, and how many items one can buy with Lionel Messi's new $835 million release clause at FC Barcelona.

The Lionel Messi contract saga of will he or won't he has finally come to an end on Saturday morning. After giving nervous last few months to his Barcelona fans, Messi has finally committed his long-term future to Barcelona.

The Catalan club has announced that Lionel Messi signed a new contract with the Catalan club, breaking the heart of many Manchester City fans. His previous deal is set to expire at the end of the season and the new deal will keep him in Barcelona until the 2020-21 season.

According to various reports, Messi will receive a huge $59.6 million signing bonus and will earn $667,000 a week in his new contract. His buyout clause is set at a whopping €700 million ($834.6 million). With that enormous price tag, no club in the world will be able to afford Lionel Messi anytime soon.

$835 million can buy a lot of assets other than Messi, and here, we take a look at what else you can buy for that money:

10. 2490 Ferrari 812 Superfasts (2018 edition)

Ferrari's fastest model in the company's history. The 2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast is the latest V12-powered two-seater model from Ferrari and is more expensive than Ferrari's F12berlinetta.

Priced at a massive $335,275, it is one of the most expensive cars from Ferrari, and naturally, is one of the finest cars ever made.

With the amount of money ($835,000,000) required to buy Lionel Messi from Barcelona, one could buy an astonishing number of 2490 Ferrari 812 Superfasts.

9. Buy all the IPL teams and still left with half the money

Buying a team in one of the most successful domestic T20 cricket leagues is every cricket fan's dream. How about buying all the teams?

As of June 2017, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has been named the most valued team ($58.6 Million) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), according to Brand Finance, as published by Business World.

€700 million ($834.64 million) can actually buy 14 Kolkata Knight Riders teams, 15 Mumbai Indians teams or 19 Royal Challengers Bangalore teams. Instead, one could buy all the IPL teams and still save half the money! Woooof!

8. 6 Airbus A320neos

Travelling on a plane is a costly affair, but how about buying it? Airbus is the European company that designs, manufactures, and sells civil and military aircrafts worldwide.

The Airbus A320neo is the latest from Airbus Corporation, and is one of the most expensive commercial aircrafts. Cost of a single Airbus A320neo is US$108.4 million, which is approximately €103 million (in 2017).

With €700 million, the Catalan club can actually buy 6 Airbus A320neos and still have money left to buy Phillipe Coutinho from Liverpool.

7. Buy West Ham United, Southampton and Leicester City

Money in football is skyrocketing, and transfer fees are rising. Owning a football club in Europe's top flight league is near impossible unless you are a billionaire.

It is never easy to buy a Premier League club because of their huge value. But Barcelona can buy a total of 3 of the following English Premier League clubs in one shot, if they sell Lionel Messi for €700 million/$834.6 million.

West Ham United - $303 Million

Southampton - $281 Million

Leicester City - $257 Million

6. 20 Million grams of 22 karat gold

This is a Jackpot. Only a very few will say no to this precious and one of the most expensive metals in the world. Buying a gram of gold will pull you down by approximately $41 at the present market rate.

If Barcelona sells Lionel Messi for $835 million, they can actually but 20 million grams of 22 karat gold, which is simply astounding!

But every soccer fan will know that investing in Lionel Messi will give you more returns than gold or diamond. What a great footballer this man is.

5. 835,835 iPhone Xs (64 GB)

Apple has changed the way people use mobile phones. Phones are becoming way smarter than humans, and are also becoming ludicrously expensive for a common man to buy.

The latest release from Apple is one of the best and most expensive smartphones in the world right now. Apple announced iPhone X on September 12, 2017.

The cost of one 64GB Apple iPhone X is 999$. With $835 million, one can buy little less than a million iPhone Xs or a million MacBook Air laptops. These are unbelievable numbers.

4. 121,915 Harley Davidson Street 500s

This is a dream if you are a fan of motorcycles. There are only very few bikes in the world better than Harley Davidson Street 500.

One of the major motorcycle manufacturers in the world, American motorcycle giants, Harley Davidson, has had 100+ years of tradition in producing some stunning motorcycles. Street 500 series is the latest from Harley Davidson, with a price tag of approximately $6900

835 million dollars can buy 121,915 Harley Davidson Street 500 bikes. Want a cool bike? Guess it's time to train your kid to become a football player.

3. 154,629 Rolex Oyster Perpetual watches

When we see the watch brand Rolex, one player comes to our mind immediately. It's not Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, but the one and only tennis superstar Roger Federer.

Roger Federer is the brand ambassador of the Rolex watch brand for many years now. Largest single luxury watch brand, Rolex is ranked 64th on the list of Forbes' 'world's most powerful global brands' in 2016.

One Oyster Perpetual watch roughly costs about $5400, and with $835 million, one can buy 154,629 Rolex Oyster Perpetual watches.

If Barcelona sell Messi and invest the money on watches, guess we can say they will have a lot of time on hand.

2. 954,285 VIP Camp Nou Tickets

For a soccer fan, the experience of watching a football match in a stadium is second to none, especially if it involves the team that you support. When you get a chance to watch it from the VIP section, no words can explain the happiness.

The VIP season ticket comes at a steep price in any of the top European clubs and at $875, Camp Nou is no different. Even though the experience makes it worth paying for, it's expensive for a normal fan.

But with Lionel Messi's latest buyout clause, one can get almost a million Camp Nou VIP season tickets. Wow!

1. 1.6 Million Bose home-theatre speaker systems

There is no better sound system in the world than Bose. At 499$, Bose Acoustimass 6 Series V offers an excellent listening and viewing experience. It is the cheapest home theatre system that one can buy from Bose.

WIth $835,000,000, one can buy a whopping 1.6 million Bose home theatre systems, and still left will more than 35 million. Even the wealthiest club in the world would not want to match his new release clause.
