The report said the decision to resume the suspended strike was taken at a meeting of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) which is made up of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT).
The meeting held in Abuja.
Premium Times also reports that the workers complained about the way the financial allocation was shared.
“We wrote a letter to the federal ministry of education to explain the criteria for the allocation and we gave them seven days notice to do the needful. But the date has elapsed without a response from the federal government,” they said in a statement signed by national presidents of NAAT, Sani Sulaimon; NASU, Chris Ani; and SSANU, Samson Ugwoke.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that the chairman and secretary University of Ibadan chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Deji Omole and Peter Olapegba , recently alleged threats to their lives over issues of earned academic allowances.
The Nation reports that the duo in a letter titled 'Threat to Life', addressed to the Chairman of the Council on Security and copied to divisional police officer Sango, stated that they have been receiving verbal threats to their lives on issues related to allowances of their colleagues.
