AKWA IBOM CHILDREN PLANS THANK YOU VISIT TO UDOM, WIFE ON MONDAY

Gates of the Government House in Uyo, will be thrown open on Monday, 4th December, for Akwa Ibom Children, numbering over three thousand (3000), who would be going to tell Governor Udom Emmanuel and Wife;Deaconess Martha Emmanuel, thank you for the free and compulsory education as well as other moral support provided by the current administration.
The children’s visit tagged: “Akwa Ibom Children’s Mega Thank You Reception” is facilitated by Arise African Scholars Initiative in conjunction with the Education Monitoring Unit (Office of the Governor).

According to the organizers of the event, the Deputy Governor; Mr Moses Ekpo, is expected as Father-of-the-Day, while the Commissioner for Housing and Special Duties; Mr Akan Okon will Chair the occassion. Speaker of the State House of Assembly; Rt Hon (Barr) Onofiok Luke, Secretary to the State Government; Sir Etekamba Umoren, as well as Head of Service; Mrs Ekereobong Akpan will be Guests-of-Honours.

Briefing newsmen in Uyo, the Chairperson of Arise African Scholars Initiative; Princess Diana Akpabio-Akinmoyo, said, Schools Children all over the State were grateful to the Udom Emmanuel administration for sustaining free and compulsory education in Akwa Ibom.





According to Princess Akinmoyo, the free and compulsory education in the State has changed the status of an Akwa Ibom child from fetchers of wood and drawers of water to boardroom players, managers, policy and decision makers.



Her words: “The current administration has sunk in a lot of money in the education sector. Our children are happy and the families are happy as well. Each time we visited Schools for guidance counseling, the feedback from the Children was that, they want to see the Governor and wife to tell them thank you for free education, thank you for Dakkada philosophy, thank you for waking us up from our dream, thank you for showing us that right way to go”.

The Chairperson who was flanked by other members of the Central Working Committee, said gift items like; School bags, AKEES pencil, pen, exercise books and other materials will be distributed to the children at the end of the mega rally holding at the Banquet Hall of Government House in Uyo by 11 o clock in the morning.
