The former minister for education Oby Ezekwesili on tueday said that there will be less corruption in Nigeria if women are in power than men.
Ezekwesili said this at a lecture organised by HID Awolowo Foundation in Victoria Island, Lagos.
According to her, research has shown that when women are represented in leadership, there is better performance in measurable numbers, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
While giving her speech during the lecture, Ezekwesili said:
“Research shows that in Africa, only five per cent of women are CEOs, 22 per cent are cabinet members, 25 per cent are parliamentarians, 29 per cent are managers, 36 per cent are promoted, and some 44 per cent of senior women hold line roles.With Nigeria in the lead, this tells that women have been marginalised and this is evident in the poor governance that the continent has produced. “So, men must take full responsibility for the state of affairs of Nigeria and the continent.
“What this is saying to us is that we need to improve on the participation of women in our political system.
“We need to have many more women in the local government, state government and centre of authority as well as in the judiciary.
“Research shows that when many more women are at decision-making level, there is less corruption and a wise society would know that empowering its women is smart economics.”

They have been tried and were very successful in their display of corruption tendencies and prowess.


Afterall, what a man can do, a woman can do even better.

Finally, there is hope for me too politically

Women can never go far in Nigerian politics because they always see themselves as competitors unlike men. A good example was the lady who contested against GEJ and Atiku at PDP primaries in 2011. She ended up with one vote (her vote, actually! ).

Also, power intoxicates women easily than men. Eg, Stella Odua, Diezani and Patricia Olubunmi Ette. Terrible characters they were!

There would be less corruption with ATIKU in power.
