Step 1

The thumb test

• place a drop of honey on your thumb

• If it spills around your thumb (circulates around) Its Fake.

• A pure honey will stay intact on your thumb without spilling around.


 Step 2

Water test to test the purity of your honey.

• Get a glass cup of water 

• pour in one spoon of honey into the glass of water 

• If the honey dissolves in the and spreads around the water, then its Fake.

• A pure honey will settle right at the bottom of the water, without spreading around.

Step 3

Testing if the Honey is flammable or not

Do you know a pure honey is flammable?

Maybe you don't, all you have to do to test this is:


• Dip a dry match stick in a honey.

• strike the match stick against the match packet as if you want to light it.

• If it lights with ease its Original, and it will keep burning around the honey until the honey is dried off

• If it doesn't light then its Fake, as Fake honey tends to contain moisture.

Step 4

Drop honey on blotting paper or a paper towel
If honey has been diluted with water, it may be absorbed or leave a wet mark on an absorbent material such as blotting paper. Pure honey should not be absorbed, but unfortunately, neither will honey diluted with most sugar syrups.
