After about 12 years power tussle between the Eze of Gusau and the Igbo Community Association (ICA), Zamfara State chapter, the lingering crisis has been laid to rest as the Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Muhammad Kabir Danbaba announced the abolition of Eze title bestowed on Mr. Egbunna Obijiaku.

The Emir made this known while receiving the South-East Chairman of the Traditional Council of Chiefs, Cletus Ilomuanya, Obi of Obinugwu in his palace. Alhaji Danbaba told the visiting monarch that the title of Eze was bestowed on Obijiaku in good faith.

The Emir observed that since it was the decision of the South-East Traditional Council of Chiefs to abolish the title of Eze in diaspora, he had equally abolished the Eze title in his emirate. “I want to say that as from today and in the presence of your highness, I have abolished the title of Eze, I bestowed on Mr Egbunna.”

The Emir stressed that he hoped with the abolition of the Eze title in Gusau Emirate, both parties would embrace peace and work towards the development of the state. According to him, Igbo in his Emirate had contributed immensely to the development of the emirate, stressing that “we have been living together in peace.”
Speaking earlier, the visiting Chairman, South-East Council of Traditional Rulers, Illomuanya called on Nigerians to see themselves as their brothers’ keeper.

His Royal Highness IIIomuanya maintained that brotherhood is the key to development, “we should tolorate ourselves and remain as one all the time,” he advised.
