The approval to release $1bn from ECA to prosecute the war against terror in NE certainly does not add up and should be subject to further scrutiny by NASS and the general public.

I suppose it’s now expedient to consider the cost benefit analysis of the war against Boko Haram for better policy design and strategy to defeat the scourge of Islamist militant extremism in the Lake Chad region.

Poverty is certainly one of the root causes of the security issues in the NE. How is FG addressing the challenges of development and providing opportunities for youths in the NE? How much has Nigeria spent since 2014 on military campaign to end Boko Haram? Does the result justify the huge cost ? Could there be alternative strategies?

Perhaps it’s time to reconsider approaches to waging the war on Boko Haram terror.

The need to fund the military must always be considered against the requirements of the people we wish to protect. Consider the hard fact that Bornu and Adamawa States, both ground zero and frontline states confronted with serious challenges arising from the Boko Haram crisis , have a combined approved 2017 budget expenditure of about N300bn (about $850m) for a total population of 7m. Meanwhile the FG seek to provide $1bn to fight Boko Haram. This is in addition to billions of Naira provided in the 2017 Appropriations Act for the military and war on terror.

Apparently while the governments of Bornu and Adamawa States are only able to muster about $120 for the welfare of each citizen in 2017, the FG is proposing to spend $142 to secure the same citizen from Boko Haram just from the ECA $1bn alone. If other budgetary allocations for Security in the NE are included, the FG may well be spending close to $250 to protect an individual from Bornu or Adamawa State from the menace of Boko Haram .

From all indications , Boko Haram is not spending up to $2m to terrorize the NE. Why then must Nigeria continue to spend billions of dollars to defeat Boko Haram? Time for the FG to change strategy!

There is no explanation or scrutiny that can justify the disbursement of $1B at this point in time.

Why do we always deceive ourselves in this country, only an arrogant man will doubt the intentions and the evil agenda this government, it's been from one episode to another.

Dem don start dey loot for 2019.
