In a recent competiton for the Students of Petroleum Engineering (SPE), held in Port Harcourt, with the attendance of 21 schools under SPE section 103 Portharcourt that offer Petroleum Engineering as a course, Madonna University came first Position beating the likes of Unizik and University of Portharcourt who came second and third Respectively.

Esut came 10th, IMO poly came 9th, Rivers State Universitty came 4th, Uni Uyo came 5th, Unn came 8th, Anambara state university came 6th
