The news all over blogs and social media is about Tonto Dikeh and her new Reality TV Show where it is shown that she did cosmetic surgery. She confessed that she had been feeling ashamed about her body for sometime now, hence the reason why she did the surgery.

Though it is not yet clear what part of her body the surgery was carried out on, pictures and video released showed her standing unclad in front of a doctor.

Many have commended her saying she’s a brave woman to have come out publicly on how she feels about her body and seeking solution, while quite a number of people on social media have criticized her. Reading through comments, one can notice that those supporting her are using the wrong terminology to justify her action. They make it seem like she had a defect that’s why she opted for cosmetic surgery.

You don’t go for cosmetic surgery when you have a defect. What you go for is a plastic surgery in certain cases. Cosmetic surgery is entirely focused on enhancing a patient’s appearance e.g breast enhancement, facial contouring, facial rejuvenation, body contouring etc.

The problem with having these things done is that when patients are pleased with the results, they are more likely to have additional procedures performed at some other time in their life. This leads to deformity making the person’s last state worse than the first.
