THE INADEQUACIES OF DISPLACED PRIORITY: FUEL SCARCITY AND THE PAIN OF THE NIGERIAN COMMONER. WHY WE DESERVE MORE FROM A THEN CRITICAL PMB.

We can not, in the depth of our consciences wish away the reality that, the average Nigerian is suffering. Inspite the undemocratic confrontations on the welfare of the people through 2017, there was sincere hope that, the year's end would be better. Far from this, the Federal Government's inability to see to the availability of premium motor spirit ordinarily called fuel this festive season has occasioned untold pain on the lives of teeming average Nigerians.

Not far away from history, Muhammadu Buhari had, with propaganda approach lambasted the Goodluck administration for failing in this same regard of making fuel available during the festive periods and today, we are living testimonies to reality; that for some of the reasons PMB earned sympathy and support, he has shown clearly that, even with his acclaimed determination, he cannot help.

The overriding hardship occasioned by fuel scarcity within this festive period is obviously unprecedented as cost of transportation fare has increased to more than 200 percent. Economic and social activities too, have been dealt an unrecoverable blow. I wouldn't spare my criticism on the ground of independent marketers interference, hence the government, if so proficient as it claim, ought to have contemplated outcomes before embarking on decisions that, would in the end boomerang.

The government's alms-folded approach to this menace is what should anger one more. If the yearnings of the people were so much a thing of worry to Buhari's government as it claims in the media, an emergency approach through relevant agencies would have long been engaged to put the issue to rest or to alleviate the situation . Nigerians will walk through this experience with bitter emotions to vent them back on Buhari some day when the time is right.

Buhari's government must shift away from it deceptive and pretentious concern on fiscal policy which has landed the nation in worrisome debts and also it incomprehensible financial allocations to the North-East and meet the average needs of the commoner. The fuel scarcity experience this year is painful and hardly forgettable. It has created a scar on the consciences of all devoid of political and ethnic lines. If we must live meaningfully, it is said, then we must live for others.
