lol most arsenal fans would not understand the loyalty arsenal board has for this man and why they would refuse to sack him. you guys do realise arsenal was in debt after building Emirates, so the board then had to choose b/w concentrating on paying the debt or winning trophies, I believe u know which decision was taken. that's why they sold all their top players and why Wenger priorities on cheap, youth players whom they can build up and make profit on when sold than experienced, expensive players. |

Arsenal will witness a downward spiral after the departure of Wenger. You do not appreciate what you have until you have lost it. |

Those who tag Wenger a specialist in failure, what have they themselves achieved? He's won 3 league titles, 7 FA Cups, a number of Community Shields, gone a whole season unbeaten, with the spoils he delivered a world class stadium. Apart from that, he's courted by a lot of clubs, including the English FA. He's brought up many stars from obscurity. One of them is now a President of a country, George Opong Weah. When Kanu's career was all but gone, he was the one who revived it. So, those saying he's a failure should tell us what they've achieved with their lives. |

kokomilala: No, no no....sports is not like that. I get am before will not rapture a sinner nor will it get you groceries at a supermart. You are only as good as your present status if not the Premiership will have ended when Arsenal went unbeaten. He maybe good in a country (England) where trophies are rare. If he was in Spain or Germany or Italy for that matter coaching a top four team he will have gone long time. Expectation breeds results. And the club and her fans have very modest expectations and lots of excuses to tolerate his repeated failure and why do I call it failure and why do they call him a specialist in failure....because he refuses to adapt his methods. Leicester won the Premiership with a far lower budget and modest wage bill. Other clubs in Holland, Belgium and Portugal do as well if not better in Europe with far smaller bugets and bigger debts. They never allow the sporting side of the business suffer. Wenger and Arsenal have no excuse whatsoever. |

@Reference, you need to understand where Arsenal were before AW arrived. Arsenal were a club steep deep in mid-table mediocrity, floundering between 5th and 7th position. Their former home, Highbury was Onikan Stadium glorified. With no training ground, no nutritional culture, beer and Mars Bars were pre-game meals. He came, turned around the culture, built London Colney, their training facility with the sale of Nicolas Anelka. You need to look at the resources at his disposal during the lean period, when the stadium was built and afterward. I personally researched this for over 10 yrs. He had no money to spend. He had to sell Arsenal's best players to balance the books. What he's done for Arsenal, where he's put the club, will echo in eternity. Success is relative. He is more of a developer, not a hired gun like Mourinho. So, results may not be expected in the immediate but over the long haul. And that's why the Board persevered with him during the austere period. |
