Spanish side Barcelona are in the final stages of the deal to sign Liverpool’s Coutinho for a record €150 million.

If the deal pulls through, the Brazilian will be the third-most expensive footballer in the world and their record signing.

Neymar’s €222m move from Barcelona to Paris Saint Germain and Kylian Mbappe’s loan switch from Monaco – which will become permanent next season for €180m – will be the only deals that will trump Coutinho’s transfer.

A move to Catalonia will see the Liverpool forward eclipse Ousmane Dembele – signed from Borussia Dortmund last summer for an initial fee of €105m that could rise to €145m – as the side’s most expensive player.

The deal will also eclipse the €105m Manchester United’s fee to Juventus for Paul Pogba in August 2016 by around €15m, smashing the British record.

It was gathered that the deal will be supplemented by €40m in add-ons related to performances and appearances, likely to be triggered.
