He said 207 of the cases were in court, with three still under investigation.

Gambo also said that the command had arrested 320 persons suspected to be involved in 204 armed robberies across the state during the period.

According to him, the police are prosecuting 155 of the armed robbery cases while the rest are being investigated.

because you think it is easy for a northern female rape victim to boldly walk into a police station and report a rape case in a male protected north ?

they had free education (female education)

They had free media

They had female rights groups

..tools to help fight such instances.

But they threw it all away and want sympathy in return?

Rape?
If that's the number, what now will be the number of unraped ones?

Sorry,to the victims....

Masari and Buhari,CSOs should join hands and avert this rising problem.
Use the machinery of state provided for to protect and educate the almajiris.
I think some almajiri schools as well as a Federal University in Dutsin-Ma were established by the Jonathan administration to fight and put a stop some of these incidents.

Not to pontificate for Jonathan who I have my personal reservations, rape cannot be justified but all we do is encourage all sectors of society to engage in ensuring that rape is eradicated(thoroughly reduced in our society).

The North as you agree is a region where there is extreme male dominance thereby making it difficult for women rights to thrive. With the existing Sharia law,it is obviously difficult to assert to dominance on certain issues that concerns religion and rights.

1)The Jonathan administration built 165 top model almajiri schools, and precisely 38 of them in Katsina to get these young men off the streets. If you take these men of the streets and educate or englighten them, you automatically reduce the cases of rape, afterall who rapes these girls?it is not girls nah....

2)The Jonathan administration also ensured that there were new universities(federal) in all states of the Federation(3 in the South, and 8 in the North) of which Katsina was one of them....to ensure that we have enlightenment across Board from almajiri schools to Federal University rather than subjugate themselves to the rigorous steps they would involve themselves in when applying to ABU or Bayero or war-torn UNIMAID.(cut-off mark wise)
His idea to me was to ensure that there is no lacuna in their education.

3)Government can legislate and drive rights groups to ensure that rape is totally fought against. Government is a continuum and hence should be followed painstakingly. The job of Government is to drive CSOs and try to remove the barriers of religion to further educate the girl-child.It will be simpler with a Northerner who is especially Muslim and understand their religion and cultures.
The Jonathan administration in 2015 passed the Violent Against Persons Prohibition Act,the first gender-based legislation to protect vulnerable women and girls who are overlooked, overpowered, and helpless.
Until then, only Lagos and Ekiti had passed such bills at state levels, many others have joined now.
The Buhari administration should hence continue where the last one stopped and fight it head long especially as it affects mostly people from his state.

THE ILLITERATE OF THE 21ST CENTURY ARE NOT THOSE WHO CANNOT READ AND WRITE BUT THOSE WHO CANNOT LEARN,RE-LEARN AND UN-LEARN.
