Call Akeredolu To Order, Youths Tell Buhari

Youths in Ondo under the aegis of Future Leaders for Change In Ondo have appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to call Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to order over what they called his wasteful extravagance of tax payers money and lack of sympathy for the suffering people of the state.

In a release signed by its leader, Gideon Akindola, the youths alleged that the governor has been frittering the recently released Paris Club fund on foreign trips and other mundane things while shortchanging the civil servants in the workforce of the state their welfare and benefits.

The youths said they are alarmed that the governor has constituted a 30-man committee for the celebration of his one year in office while he cannot point to a single project he has commissioned since his assumption of office.

“Ondo youths are appalled at the wasteful extravagance of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and his insensitiveness to the plight of Ondo state workers. Since assumption of office in February 24, the only achievement of the governor is that he partnered Air Peace to begin flight operations from Lagos to Ondo”.

“All the existing projects in the state are the ones left behind by the immediate past administration of Olusegun Mimiko. We challenge Governor Akeredolu and his aides to name any other landmark projects, started by his administration, completed and have been commissioned till date”.

“More appalling is the news that the governor, who barely spends two days in Ondo every week has inaugurated a 30-man committee for his one year in office. That to us is uncalled for because the state government has done practically nothing in the last one year to warrant any celebration”.

“Coming at a period Ondo workers are owed salary arrears, we believe the monies to be wasted on this jamboree should be channeled to paying workers and carrying out developmental projects across the state”.

We hereby appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari who instructed governors to ensure prompt payment of workers’ salaries with the recently released Paris Club fund to call Governor Akeredolu to order. Ondo youths who are at the receiving end of his misrule cannot continue to keeps silent while their future is being mortgaged by a privileged few” the statement read.

To my fellow Ondo Youths, I regret to inform you that this is what the state will experience for their 'Esau-like' stupidity during the last election for the next 4 years. Just like Esau, the citizens sold their 4 years for 5,000 naira each when same was being exchanged for votes for Akeredolu. Although, I personally don't trust any Politician in Nigeria, but I feel any other candidate during the last election would have been better than Akeredolu! I wonder how you want a man who doesn't reside in the state to know the problems in the state to proffer solution to the problems the citizens are facing, especially for someone whose impact have never been felt outside electioneering campaign. It is like expecting a surgeon to perform a surgery on a patient in proxy. Akeredolu who had no meaningful vision or substantial ideas was voted into power despite many facts that have depicted him clueless, now I wonder what was expected of such a fellow who had no notable achievement or impact in the state.

He rode on the Buhari factor to win that election. It was only a matter of time before Apc captured the state. People tend to vote for parties not individuals. All you just need to do is to package that individual a little bit
