Benefits Of Wisdom (19): Self-examination by SonofIssachar: 11:09am On Jan 12, 2018
It takes wisdom for the clever to understand the path they are on, but the fool is deceived by his own foolishness. – Proverbs 14:8 (VOICE)

Here is another benefit of wisdom for our meditation – wisdom helps the wise person to examine the course of their lives and ascertain if they are on the right track or not.

By virtue of the heightened mental engagement and reasoning that wisdom avails those who possess it, they are able to do an impassionate audit on themselves to determine if they have been living purposefully or not; if they are on the right path toward achieving their set goals or they have deviated, and what they need to do more of, if they are on the right track; or how they can get their lives back on track in the event they have missed it along the way. This advantage is only available to those who court wisdom.

The second part of that passage says that a fool is deceived by his own foolishness. That means whilst the wise person is hard on himself in self-evaluation, which usually leads to not-so-sweet resolutions on what to stop doing and which discipline to adopt, a fool who is not capable of such mental rigour does not see anything wrong with himself, and only sweet-talks himself into believing that everything is okay. The danger of such self-indulgence is that it results in undesirable consequences that will showcase the fool to the world for who he really is, while the wise one will be proved smart.

The same way wisdom announces the wise as one worthy of associating with, so does folly proclaims the foolish as one to be avoided by all means.

You will succeed in Jesus Name!
