JAC Strike : Uncertainty As Government Officials Keep Mum by Otunbalarry: 10:42am On Jan 13, 2018
There is continued uncertainty over the continued strike action of the Non Academic Staffs of Nigerian Universities as the Nigerian Federal Government has continued to keep mum on the action.

This is coming after a December 19 meeting of last year that attempted to settle the issues that led to the strike.

When EDUCATION HERALD put a call through to the Minister of state, Education Anthony
Onwuka, he refused to comment on the strike action stating that he was in no position to talk on the strike, although the Minister represented the Federal Government during the meeting with the Striking workers held on December 19 in Abuja.

Attempts the reach the Executive Secretary of the Universities Commission(NUC) Prof Abubakar Rasheed proved abortive as his line failed to connect.

Abdussobur Salaam the Public Relations officer of SSANU had told EDUCATION HERALD that the strike actions will continue as the workers are yet to hear from the Federal Government after the last meeting.

NASU, SSANU and NAAT is contesting the sharing formula of Earned Allowances released last year by the Federal Government with a reported 89% to 11% percent sharing ratio to Academic and Non-academic Staffs respectively.
