Most Gas filling bays In Lagos are just explosions waiting to happen , there is alway wanton disregard for safety or safety related thought
processes at most of them from customer making and receiving calls in the fill up bay area to motor vehicles without anti spark gauzes being allowed to drive up to loading bays and employees with very poor knowledge of combustion safety..its really sad

you are very right o, I use to buy gas at this particular gas station years ago and I did notice the way the employees flare the gas at times all in the name of testing when selling to customers.

According to TVC only 2 lives were lost please correct this wrong information

You're right. That's why I stopped patronising them. Very nonchalant about safety issues.

Was in a nearby school early in the day, the smell was so much. Shortly after 7am, the explosion occurred although there was a fire service van on ground,
It still didn't stop the casualty.

There was a leakage over the night which I guess they were aware of.

Pupils from the school were evacuated and school locked for today. To prevent health issues as a result of inhaled fume.

10 persons have been confirmed dead in an explosion that occured at the Second Coming Gas station in Magodo, Lagos state this morning January 11th. The gas plant is located on CMD Road, opposite Magodo Brooks Estate.


Operatives of the Lagos State Fire Service, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Federal Road Safety Corps and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) are currently at the scenery to contain the fire and carry out rescue operation. The cause of the explosion is yet unknown.

Wasn't it this same company called Second Coming whose gas plant got burnt along Lekki-Epe expressway opposite Crown Estate at Abijo, some years ago??
