7 Easy Ways To Speed Up Your Windows PC by hustla(m): 2:25pm On Jan 16, 2018
Your PC may be slow as a result of a lot of varying factors; some caused by you, some not. There is no need to panic as there are easy ways to speed up your, ways which do not need you to be a computer Geek to pull off

Here are the ways to speed up your slow Windows PC

Remove Programs You Don’t Use
This is top on our list as its one of the easiest fixes to pull off. Simply open the Control Panel, navigate to Programs > Uninstall a Program. You will see a list of currently installed applications. Look for the ones which you do not use and uninstall.

Installed resources take up a chunk of background processes, autostart entries, system services and are also included in the boot up menu. This clears up your hard drive and leaves system resources available for your use.

Asides this, it also frees up your system from use by apps which may compromise the security of your system as a result of lack of updates

Defragmentation of Your Hard Drive

Defragmentation is likened to cleaning house for your PC, it picks up all the different pieces of data scattered across your computer and neatly arranges them together in an orderly manner. This is important because every computer suffers from the constant growth of fragmentation and if you don’t clean your PC’s house, your PC suffers from the messy data scattered across your computer.

It can be accessed under Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools or by simply typing Disk Defragmenter in the Windows search bar

Free Up Hard Disk Space

If your hard drive is almost completely full, your computer may run noticeably slower. You can quickly free up some space by deleting unwanted programs, old pictures, backing up your information on an external hard disk or using the Disk Cleanup tool for windows which can be accessed under Control Panel > Performance Information and Tools > Free up disk space by deleting unnecessary files

Other ways include running a disk clean up, cleaning temporary files with CCleaner software and disabling windows restore.

Remove / Reduce Animations

Windows make use of some animations to show effect when windows are minimized or maximized. Though these animations are pleasant to the eye, they are often memory guzzlers and can negatively impact the speed of your PC.

There are two fixes for this; Search for performance in the windows search bar > Adjust the appearance and performance of windows > either disable most of the options or create a custom option for yourself.

Alternatively, you can navigate to the desktop, Right click, Click on Personalize and select the Windows Classic option (or Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Personalization). This instantly disables all the Animations and effects and fastens up your PC in no time

Remove Browser Add-Ons
Of course, there are tons of browser extensions in the theme store, add-ons which generally ease our browsing experience or design the overall look of our browsers, but they come at a price. Too many add-ons ultimately cause our browser and allow it to use more memory than it normally would.

Lighten up your web browser by removing add-ons you don’t need or use often. Preventing automatic loading of flash content also helps the CPU from carrying too much load

Scan for Viruses, Malware and Adware
Malware detection software like Malwarebytes is needed to sniff out programs that most antivirus programs tend to not pick up. These programs sneak onto your PC during installation of other programs and thus take up resources without you authorizing them to.

Also, there may be Viruses on your PC which may be connecting on its own to the internet using up your resources and duplicating themselves all over your hard disk. Using strong antivirus software like Kaspersky to clean them up will do the magic

Reinstall your Windows

Out of the list, this should be the last resort if the above mentioned do not fix your issues; a fresh installation of your Windows Operating system.

Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 makes it easy to do this as no Installation CD or Media is needed. Navigate to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery> Reset this PC. This will wipe your installed programs and system settings without destroying your files.

On Windows 7 however, you will need installation media and drivers CD
