5 Talking Points From The NPFL Week 2 Games by PenPrince07: 6:55pm On Jan 18, 2018
It's another exciting display of football artistry across the country.

Ten matches were played with 9 wins and one draw; one away victory.

As usually, we look at 5 Talking points from the encounters.

Oriental teams falter

Last week, it was the two teams from the South West – MFM FC and Sunshine Stars –that failed to record a win.

The table however turned in the last round of games, as none of the four teams from the South East – Abia Warriors, Enyimba, FC IfeanyiUbah and Heartland – got a victory.

Enyimba and Heartland drew blank in the Oriental derby while FC Ifeanyi Ubah and Rangers lost to Tornadoes and Lobi Stars respectively.

Plateau United Continue Winning Streak

Last week, they became the first defending champion, since 2013, to win the first game of the season.

And yesterday, they continued that fine form by bashing Rivers United 2-0 at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos.

MFM Gets It Right

At the Agege Stadium in Lagos, last term’s runners-up, MFM FC, edged out Kwara United by a lone goal.

That was their first victory in the season as they had drawn their first game, weekend.

Will the Olukoya Boys do well without talisman, Steven Odey?

New Boys Make Amend

Go Round FC and Yobe Desert Stars, all new comers, recorded their first wins in the campaign.

The Omoku side beat Akwa United 1-0 while Yobe Stars saw off Wikki Tourist 2-0.

Go Round had in the first week lost 1-0 to Wikki Tourists; while FC IfeanyiUbah beat Yobe Desert Stars 2-1.

Goal Drought Continues For Kwara United, Nasarawa United

The strikers from both sides are misfiring and have found it herculean to register their sides' name in the scoring sheet.

After goalless draws in the opening games, they couldn’t find the back of the net on Wednesday.

Will they make amends this weekend? Find out in the next edition on Monday. Ciao!
