Mrs Gift Nnonye Ukatu, a housewife have been jailed for 13 years by the Lagos State High Court for human trafficking. Mrs Ukatu was arrested in 2015 following tip off by concerned citizens after she had haboured two girls under the age of 12 and engaged them in force labour, domestic work and enslavement. Ukatu was charged on a 6 count of habouring two girls and forcing them into Labour, domestic work and enslavement. Mrs Ukatu was reported to have jumped bail but was later rearrested and rearraigned in 2016 where she pleaded not guilty to the charges. The presiding judge, Justice Kudy Jones sentence Mrs Ukatu to 13 years imprisonment. http://nghubs.info/housewife-bags-13years-jail-term-for-trafficking/
