Some Nigerian youths on Wednesday said that Acting President Goodluck Jonathan has put Nigeria back to international reckoning with “his exemplary leadership,” News Agency of Nigeria reports.

The youths, under the aegis of Youth for Good Governance in Niger Delta and Conscience Nigeria stated this in a statement.

In the statement signed by their coordinators, Mr Dike Chigbue for YOGIND and Mr. Tosin Adeyanju for CN, the groups said that Nigeria had a lot to gain from Jonathan’s visit to the US

“Nigeria can no longer afford to take the back seat in the international community, the visit of the Acting President is coming at a critical time that is mostly needed.

“We believe this will do a lot of good to the strained relationship between the two countries and place Nigeria back on the world stage,” the statement added.

The youths also commended what they described as the renewed drive in the anti-corruption crusade, urging Jonathan to pursue it with vigour and total commitment.

“Without fighting corruption on all fronts, development will continue to elude us, we must support him to fight this monster in our collective interest,” the groups added.

YOGIND and CN have again cautioned individuals and groups against making provocative criticisms over the newly constituted cabinet by the Acting President.

Particularly, the groups described as uncalled for, the criticism of the appointment of Mr Sam Ode from Benue State as the Minister of State, Niger Delta Ministry.

“There should be a limit to the infusion of ethnic colouration in the strategic appointments like that of Ministers, let us refrain from making self serving statements.
