The meeting of stakeholders held in the Eti-Osa/Lekki-Epe Expressway of Lagos State revealed that the Lekki Concession Company Limited (LCC), will on Thursday, February 1st
2018, effect the increase in toll tariffs at the Admiralty Circle Toll Plaza and the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge Toll Plaza. Motorists plying the Expressway and the Link Bridge will begin new toll fares come February.

The reason behind this increase is not farfetched as confirmed in a statement, that the current economic and business realities in cost of operations and maintenance of the company’s loan obligations precipitated the sudden increase.

Mr. Mohammed Hassan, the Managing Director of the LCC, pointed out that the new hike in toll fares came as a result of feedbacks gotten from stakeholders in Eti-Osa Local Government area and its environs, coupled with consultation made from the general area in December 2017.

According to Mr. Mohammed who said; “the toll tariffs had last been reviewed in December 2011. Since the commencement of tolling, the tariffs had remained the same despite the continuous increase in the cost of operations to ensure that the toll plazas and the road infrastructure are well maintained. The toll review has also become necessary to enable the company meet its loan obligations to its local and foreign lenders, considering the fact that foreign exchange rates have continued to increase astronomically in the last couple of years. LCC cannot continue to operate or provide the services required from us if we do not review the toll tariffs”.
