The 2019 elections are not far from us.
INEC has already released the time table for
Nigerians which shows that the Presidential
election will hold on 16 February 2019,
roughly one year to now. There has been a
source of concern among Christians about
the attitude of some others towards the
election.
Many Christians have had a habit of
boycotting elections in the past simply
because they have prayed to God to take
control. During the 2015 elections a record
number of Christians sat at home while the
Northern Muslim community all came out in
masses to ensure that their fellow wins the
elections. Their attitude towards the
elections was that of a people who were
ready to seize power at all cost in contrast
to the Christians who were merely avoiding
a bloody bath on that day.
Millions of Muslims even underaged children
were armed with PVC’s while a lot of us in
the South were busy holding prayer and
fasting sessions. While it is key that we pray
the Bible also warns us that Faith without
works is dead.
Yes we need God’s intervention in the
choice of our leaders but we also need
PVC’s for God’s choice to prevail for us as
a nation because no leader can be
democratically picked without the help of
the PVC.
I remember asking a friend if he has
collected his PVC and he defiantly
responded ” To do what”? What will my vote
do?
Imagine if there are a million of him who
reason that way the implications on the
outcome of the election.
It was with thesame attitude that When our
beloved Jonathan was contesting we all
chickened at home while his opponents took
control of the electoral process which had a
part in his defeat.
Many holier than thou Christians have rather
gone into hiding or will I say prayer mode on
voting days while the others religious bodies
have set their plans in motion through the
ballot box.
It is most unfortunate that we are
witnessing a hostile treatment towards the
church in a time when Christians were
warned clearly about the implications

I really pray that my people rise up this time around.
It's not just about voting but voting aright: with the right mind and eyes wide open.
