Breakfast simply put is a meal taken in the morning, that is to say it is the first of the day. Research has shown that taking breakfast is a serious business as it the most important meal of the day which helps in keeping the entire body system in good condition to carry out the day’s activities, but the kind of meal we take in the morning contributes a whole lot to the entire build up and maintenance of the body system. But beware, you may be at an increased risk of atherosclerosis, a condition in which the arteries tend to harden and narrow due to a build-up of plaque if you are in the habit of missing your breakfast every day researchers have warned. On the other hand, eating a healthy breakfast promote to a greater extent heart health,

The study also showed that atherosclerosis was found dominantly among people who skipped breakfast and also higher among individuals who consumed low energy breakfasts compared to breakfast consumers. Importantly, people who skipped breakfast had the greatest waist circumference, body mass index, blood pressure, blood lipids and fasting glucose levels. Individuals who are in the habit of skipping breakfast are more likely to have an overall unhealthy lifestyle, including poor overall diet, frequent alcohol consumption and smoking. They are also more likely to be hypertensive and overweight or obese. Additionally, not eating breakfast increases your risk of hypoglycaemia or low-blood sugar. This condition can bring on physical symptoms such as shakiness, dizziness, weakness, headaches, tingling and a rapid heart.
