Rubber speed bumps safely slows car speeds to 2 to 5 mph. Helps calm traffic in shopping mall parking lots, complexes, and residential roads.

Commonly found on Nigerian roads,are rounded and short, less than a foot long, and used when traffic speed needs to be slowed nearly to a halt.

In Nigeria, the introduction of road bumps in road network has important impact for traffic safety. The main purpose of road bumps is traffic control and enforcement of speed limit on our roods. Speed bumps plays a crucial roles in prevention of road accident that may affects life, properties and vehicle. The speed bumps reduces vehicle speed limit as to guide against loss of life of roads users. Due to the reckless driving and overspending, road bumps are now being introduced to residential estate, general market road, hospital roads and sport venue. In Nigeria, Speed bumps are also designed to improve pedestrian’s safety.

Any road meant for public use and connecting two major cities or otherwise important destinations is referred to as a highway (Wikipedia, 2013).

When properly designed and installed, and with strong community support, speed humps are effective at reducing speeds in neighborhoods.

Speed bumps are also designed to improve pedestrian’s safety, reinforce stop signs in parking lots and reduce the risk of accidents on private residential streets, drive way and parking lots as well as made specially to slow drivers down.

The humps are designed to slow traffic on public roads such as school, hospitals, and anywhere reduced vehicle speeds are desired.

It is advice able to be gentle enough so that emergency vehicles do not need to slow down at industrial areas with heavy truck traffic where high speeds can lead to an over turned vehicle. Speed humps are specifically designed to slow vehicles down.

The uses of speed bumps were not as rampantly used like what is being experienced now. In spites of people waiting for government or appropriate authority to for the Attention of a speed bumps people now assembled themselves for such purpose either by contributing individually to for that purpose or meeting the community where they do not have the financial muscles to do so.
