COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AT THE END OF A MEETING OF KOGI EAST STAKEHOLDERS CONVENED BY DISTINGUISHED SEN. ATAI AIDOKO ALI HELD AT CHIDA EVENTS CENTER, ON 2ND FEBRUARY, 2018

AND ATTENDED BY ALL THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVE FROM KOGI EAST, 7 OF THE 11 MEMBERS OF KOGI HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY FROM KOGI EAST, REPRESENTATIVES OF TRADITIONAL RULERS IN KOGI EAST, PROFESSIONALS, YOUTHS AND WOMEN OF REPUTE FROM KOGI EAST, WHERE THE FOLLOWING ISSUES AND RESOLUTION WERE REACHED:

AGENDA

Burning issues affecting the progress, social welfare and development of Kogi East, especially the issue of Establishment of cattle colonies/ranches and the proposal by the Kogi State Government to include Fulani as members of Traditional Councils in Kogi State

RESOLUTIONS A. ON THE PROPOSED ESTABLISHMENT OF CATTLE COLONIES IN KOGI EAST.

The meeting noted that: i. Cattle breeding is a private business. ii. It is illegal and unconstitutional to compulsorily acquire land belonging to the good people of Kogi East for the purpose of establishment of cattle colonies which is ordinarily a private enterprise. iii. The idea of establishing cattle colonies in Kogi East is tantamount to re-colonizing and ceding the common heritage of Kogi East to foreign powers and interest to the detriment of the people of Kogi East. The meeting resolved that the people of Kogi East, through their elected representatives and worthy sons and daughters present, totally reject in very clear terms, the idea of establishing cattle colonies any where in the territory of Kogi East District.

B. ON THE PROPOSED INCLUSION OF FULANI IN TRADITIONAL COUNCILS IN KOGI EAST. The Meeting noted that: i. Traditional councils and traditional institutions in Kogi East, like in every part of the world, evolved historically and traditionally. ii. Traditional councils in Kogi East are governed by the customs and traditions of the people of Kogi East.
iii. There is a law in force in Kogi State governing the issue of composition of traditional councils according to native laws and customs which must be respected. iv. The idea of having Fulani as members of Traditional Councils in so far as Kogi East is Concerned is an aberration. THEREFORE, the suggestion or proposal by the Kogi State Government to include Fulani as members of Traditional Councils is rejected and shall be resisted by the good people of Kogi East.

C. THE MEETING FURTHER RESOLVED THAT: i. Every necessary step and action, including legal action will be taken against the Government of Kogi State to resist the implementation of the strange idea of establishing cattle colonies anywhere in Kogi East or to include Fulani as members of Traditional Councils in Kogi East. ii. Meetings of this nature would be held with more frequency and preferably within the territory of Kogi East District to chart a new course for the progress and well being of Kogi East. Do these cattle rearers pay tax?And if they do,is it tantamount to boost Nigeria's GDP? Why should they be treated with special regards more than some employers of labour?

2019 would be a game changer. The voice of the masses are getting louder.
Advice to young farmers, diversify, cattle business is a money maker, let's stop the monopoly and teach them the advantages of ranching system over cattle colony.

I think this will be the long awaited lesson that the Fulani's and the YEYE bello need to learn. Igala people don't normally come together like this but if they do becuase of a person or group of people then expect an explosion. Quote me any where, go through history if you have any doubt.

Its is crazy, what so called politicians will do for power.
It makes them lose all sense of reason.
When you have younger politicians such as this Kogi state governor coming to make a mess of himself, you begin to wonder if youthful folks are really ready for leadership positions.

I believe this is the first time a governor is trying to make "foreigners" become indigenes just so he can give them lands to rear cattle.
Just so he can asslick Bubu to help him win a second term....and his people he threw under the bus would suffer the consequence for generations to come.

In the South East we understand what this cattle colony is about,
so Archbishop Chukwu tells them how to set up the so called Cattle Colony.

Fulanis to be included as members of traditional council in a place they are not indigenes??

Now the colony theory is true. The most uneducated people in Africa desire to rule over all.

What an abomination.
