The Benue State government yesterday declared it had lost confidence in the ability of the country’s security agencies to bring to justice herdsmen accused of killings in the state.

It also warned the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) and other Fulani socio-cultural organisations to stop calls for a repeal of the anti-open grazing law, vowing the legislation would remain.

“The Benue State government will not repeal or suspend this law for any reason. And we appeal to the police and other security agencies to enforce the law, which is their constitutional responsibility. However, if they continue to fail, with the help of God, we shall overcome this dark episode in our history,” it said.

I'm not surprised at this at all.
The IGP who happens to be the second most unprofessional senior police officer ever after Mbu, has shown more than enough bias in the herdsmen/farmers crisis in favour of the herdsmen.
What annoys me more is how long it will take Buhari to take serious action against the killers and the IGP regarding this crisis.
Not a single herdsman arrested that I know of, but those who attacked herdsmen last week in Gboko have been swiftly arrested.
To keep a country united requires most importantly justice for all! Anything less is unacceptable.
I'm sure Buhari doesn't know how many southern voters he has lost due to his failure to seriously address this crisis once and for all. They are many on my Facebook page and I am likely going to be one of them if this continues.

All this don't seem the right move to me.

Why?

We all witnessed the "extreme" moves taken by the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose to curb the criminal activities of killer herdsmen. This moves though largely criticised by the opposition worked wonders.

Though I am of the belief Fayose would have not taken those moves if he happened to be in the same party as Buhari.

Fayose would have acted as hopeless as Orton seems today.

So what am I driving at?

Ortom needs to stop the complaints and all, as it is obvious the FG is not likely to be proactive on this case. He needs to take "extreme" moves and make sure he protects the lives of the Benue People.
