At experience sharing interactive session held in Lagos on Monday, Technical Consultant to President and chief executive, Dangote Group, Engineer Babajide Soyode said the company would at the initial stage engage the services of experienced refinery operators from Indian to operate the refinery while a middle class level is attached to them. According to him, the trainees would still need between 18 to 20 months to be put through Dangote refinery before they can allow to operate it adding that the training has exposed them to nitty-gritty of refinery’s modus oparandi. “As time goes on, each of the trainees will be made to specialize in their areas but before them, we are going to bring in experienced operators from Indian to operate the refinery, saying that sending young Nigerian graduates to Indian for training is part of smooth transition process of developing the nation’s local content. Fifty Nigerian graduates were sent by Dangote Refinery to Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, Mumbai, Indian five months ago to undertake training in refinery operations, maintenance and production, out of which 22 returned to the country last week. Some of the trainees who spoke with Daily Trust expressed delight at their exposure and promised to put into best practice what they had learnt during their five months exposure at the Mumbai’s 12.5 million tons crude oil capacity refinery. The company’s Senior General Manager said the company had embarked on recruiting exercise as part of deliberate effort to ensure equal participation of Nigerians in the company adding that Dangote Refinery is partnering Nigerian universities in the recruitment process in a bid to get the best among the graduating students.

I hope this refinery will give way to stable price regime whereby forces of demand and supply will determine the market price.

Refinerieries don't stabilize price, cost of raw material in this case crude does, I don't see how Dangote will sell less than 150 naira per liter
with current global dynamics.

it baffles me when a single man can build a brand new 650000bpd refinery in less than 5yrs but a whole federal government comprising of successive administrations can't build even 100000bpd refinery, to maintain existing ones come be wahala, all we have are ministers and GMDs that would come and blow grammar and give us flimsy excuses why fuel is scarce and their subsidy ish, what is the rocket science in building a refinery that Nigeria can't achieve, no one should come and say it's the money part cos I can bet Nigeria can afford to build double of what dangote is building. it would interest you to know that most of the funds in this dangote's refinery are loans knowing that he'd pay back when operations begin, is it that the minister and GMD can't come up with a comprehensive plan, after all Nigeria has been borrowing to execute white elephant projects, it's very obvious some people are feeding fat from the neglect in our oil industry just like some people are feeding fat from the war against insurgency in the NE, we have graduated from millions of Dollars embezzled by politicians to billions of dollars disappearing, everyday we hear customs remitting trillions to the FG, EFCC recovering Trillions, JAMB remitting billions, why can't all these funds be channelled into building a single refinery, I can't even talk about the power sector cos I haven't seen light to charge my phone all day, and our minister has the effrontery to give us reasons why we Don't have stable power, this is the same person that vowed to fix it in months b4 the elections, the older generations would say that the youths are more active on twitter than in real life, do you blame us? just go to any govt house gate in any state and protest and see if you won't be dispatched to ur maker in seconds and the same police/ army that dispatched you would be promoted in few months instead of being brought to book, you see the police and other law enforcement agents carrying live ammunitions to disperse protesting youths and you begin to wonder whether they don't sell rubber bullets the same place they buy live ammunitions from, abi rubber bullets are more expensive or one of the ogas at the top has pressed the shift+delete button on the funds where EFCC can't even trace it if they decide to search the recycle bin, you see governors that has barely stayed 1 month in office, the next thing you'd start hearing is endorsements for 2nd term, a country where the executive don't obey court orders, the legislature only sit and discuss trivial matters and collect bogus sitting allowances at the end of each sitting, a legislature where some 4th term lawmakers haven't sponsored a single bill for over 16years, I can't even talk about the so called last hope of the common man, the judiciary, where someone steals his neighbors 5k and gets bail in the sum of 200k and gets remanded in prison until the bail conditions are perfected while a public official that stole billions belonging to the masses is given bail on self recognition and allowed to walk home and you begin to ask what the court is recognising him as, maybe as a saint I guess, a country where everything is all about politics, a country where a former labor leader now gets to power and starts fighting the same labor union he was part of, in fact let me stop here b4 my battery runs down, I'm off to buy fuel at #200 to charge my phone so that I can continue writing my book of lamentations. get ur PVC and do the right thing come 2019
