Now all that is not upto 2.5 Million. But am quite sure that came into this country salvaged and way cheaper.

If one can get the same brand and model of car from a dealer in Nigeria here at the same price or even N100-200k more, it really beats me why individuals would prefer to buy such cars from abroad, wait for months for the car to arrive & go through the rigours of custom clearing & then the risk of some external parts being stolen, etc.

I am not understanding...maybe there is something I am not seeing.

what caught my attention was when the guy said I will get 2011 for that price... I actually want to import it from USA becos I was told the risk of buying it from Nigeria dealer due to the way they lie about the car they sell. ..I got someone that want to get that for me ant the total cost is about 2.7m but I won't hesitate to change my mind if I can get 2011 model at that price

becos you have not met with most of those car dealer... naija car dealer are very greedy, most of those shining cars you are seeing were refurbish to make it look ok.. most of them are accidented beyond imagination yet they will told you it has never gotten an accident before. Some were flooded which has a lot of effect in car and they bought it cheap and sold at a price of a good cars. Some has run a mileage that is worrisome, yet they will reduce it to low mileage... I have seen a car advertise here with 13k mileage and the real mileage of that car was more than 350k yet the person want to sell it at the price of a good tokunbo cars... I will rather go on corpact to point the car i wanted with correct mileage and fix it myself than buying all this lies they sell in nigeria... there are more to it, you just need to be careful with them. Do you think they can buy and clear a car at 2.6m and still sell it at 2.6m?

You don't need to be scared about buying from Nigerian dealers. Technology has made things very easy. 3 things/people you need to arm yourself with when going to buy a car in Naija:

1. A competent mechanic who has & is conversant with using automobile scanners to scan the powertrain, transmission, ABS, A/C, etc & will effectively test-drive the vehicle.

2. A competent customs agent who will assist you in determining the genuineness of the custom papers by checking the C number on the customs database (I recommend @Saintjoel on Nairaland, Jelad Ventures is his business name - I used him before & he is very reliable)

3. A registered car history operator like @computerglobal on Nairaland, who will get you a comprehensive report on the vehicle using the VIN number. Such report will tell you if the car was accidented, flooded, salvage, etc before it was sold abroad.

These 3 combined resources are good enough to help you choose a very good car in Naija. In total, the fees for the combined resources should not cost you more than N30k. How much is that compared to the stress of paying for & importing a car from abroad?

You obviously won't get a 2011 for that price. Clearing a 2011 Alone is above a million Naira , you can do a math of the rest.

That is where choice come to play. If one Is not patient enough then best on buys it in Lagos and forgot possible stories that could hurt.
