If an unbiased sample survey is conducted today, there are no artists in Nigeria that can beat Olamide when it comes to versatility and consistency in the game. If you ever think of any popularity contest on Nigerian musicians, there are no artists in the country who is popular as the Sneh Lord himself Olamide.

Bring on the likes of Wizkid, Davido, D'banj, 2face Idibia, the defunct P-Square group, there is no one who is popular as the YBNL boss. And he had released different songs in accordance with the industry’s demand which make him more and more relevant in Nigeria Music.

Just recently, the likes of Davido and Wizkid showed their art abroad and brought home some awards from international scene which incorporates MOBO and EMA Awards that earned them a propel recognition all around the world. They both had earned major international awards and achieved a lot on international stage.

Yet, Someone who happened to be superior at home, both in terms of award-winning and popularity, seems to lack the international recognition deserved of him. The reason is not far-fetched, Olamide enjoys his dominance at home and he adds no or little efforts to make himself recognized in the outer world.

The big question is ''Do You Think Olamde Should Put More Effort In International Recognition Or Stay Local''?
What is your own opinion? Drop your comments below.

He's stagnated ever since he came onto d scene.. Wale admitted his love for Oamides style and gave him a few shot at an international collabo and he somehow inexplicably blew it... His collabo with Wale and Wizkid has got to b his worst ever

You mean he is a LOCAL CHAMPION

He will definately get there when its due time.

You dont have to compare him with the like of Wizkid & Davido, Their music genre are not the same.

Is the writer of this article crazy? Imagine rating him above Wizkid, Davido, D'banj, 2face Idibia, P-Square? Which criteria did you use to rate olamide as the most popular? Is it by followership on social media? Is it by the number of views and downloads his music gets? Is it by the number of fans attending his shows? By what exactly? I can confidently tell you that if it's by all the categories listed above, olamide is not tops in any of them

1. Most viewed and downloaded songs online:
None of olamide's songs makes the top ten in this category Psquare alone has three in this category while davido has two. Wizkid and dbanj also make the list. Even korede bello's do like that performed better than all of olamide's songs.

2. Followership on social media:
Wizkid, Davido,Peter Psquare and don jazzy were recently unveiled as being among the top ten most followed African artistes on social media as well as being the most searched celebrities on social media in Africa. I had to research for the most followed music artistes in Nigeria alone and I can confirm that olamide comes an abysmal 10th position in Nigeria alone. With the exception of WO which just won viewers choice at Soundcity MVP, olamide or his artistes have always lost out whenever they are nominated for public voting categories in awards. Not once has he won any public voting category. So where is the so called popularity?

3. Number of fans attending his shows:
The biggest show ever held by olamide was his last olic at Teslim balogun. Well, he was expecting 25 thousand fans to fill the stadium but he couldn't achieve that. This in Lagos mainland o where he has his biggest number of followers and with ticket prices very cheap. Phyno filled a stadium in Enugu at about the same time with 50, 000 people in attendance. Wizkid and davido even went beyond that and filled a stadium in other African countries (Gabon and Mali respectively). Hell, even over 11 thousand fans turned out for reekado's thank you concert in Ibadan.

I hate so called opinion post writers who just jump in making wild assertions without a single scientific evidence to back it up and yet expect people to gobble up the rubbish they are spewing. Some of these so called opinion writers have not stepped foot beyond Lagos to see what is trending in other parts of Nigeria and yet they presume to speak for the whole country. What a bunch of clowns!!!
