You just display your ignorance. The state commissioner takes instruction from the IGP. the Gov does not have any control over the commissioner of police. the police is a federal establishment not state. The Gov did the right thing. You dont sit somewhere with so much ignorance and start insulting. You can still make your point without insult.
I'm sure Wike was waiting for the IG of police to do something about Don waney before he was eventually killed. The governor is the chief security officer of the state. The State Security Council of every state consists of the Governor, the commissioner of police, the State director of the DSS and the Head of any military formation in the state. Did ortom report this threat he noticed to the state security council? Were the state director of the DSS and the police commissioner aware of this threat and fail to act. What sort of governor writes letters to bureucrats when there is an immenent and immediate threat to life? A governor that has billions in security votes that he can use to mobilize the security agencies in his state? You people shouldn't be naive. Ortom is just a clueless dunce that has no idea what it means to be the Chief Executive of a state in Nigeria.

You guys should relax. Don't be unnecessarily worked up.

It is only a mad man that cries over a pot of soup when the house is on fire. Those who are talking about salary in the face of ongoing genocide in Benue should, as a matter of urgency, visit the nearest rehab.

It is absolutely absurd for any individual, any human being to be talking about other things as far as this issue of Fulani herdsmen is concerned.

In as much as non payment of salary is condemnable, the Fulani herdsmen killings in Benue State is a more condemnable and a more vicious one. We the people of Benue State are solidly behind Governor Ortom in resisting Fulani take over of our lands and occupation of our territory. We have a proverb which says when a fox come to devour your chickens, you first of all chase away the fox, before you turn around to blame the hen.

As far as we are concerned, the Fulani herdsmen who are slaughtering our people are our real enemies now. And nobody should try to play some silly mind games on us. We are smarter than that. The era of hiding and acting so strategically to deceive Benue people is gone. Nobody should try to deceive us by pointing out our enemy for us. We know our real enemies.

Now, we are fighting the battle of life and death. It is only when people are alive that they can talk about food. The dead don't eat. First things first. Fighting Fulani herdsmen is the priority now. Thereafter, we will tackle the issue of salary. In the meantime, Governor Ortom is our hero. All desperate attempts to pitch the people against him are hereby vehemently rejected. We have had enough of systematic divide and rule tactics. Now, more than ever before, the people of Benue State are united to resist a very vicious enemy.

And those who are killing us should not turn around and begin to act as if they care about us. They should stop the nonsense of feigning sympathy. We don't want any sympathy from our killers. Don't cry louder than the bereaved. Allow us to do our crying.

You are extremely ignorant. The combined Force of Army and DSS that tracked down and killed Don Wanny came straight from Abuja. They were deployed from Abuja. And I can see clearly that you don't know anything about this Benue issue. It's as if you are residing in another planet. Stop this display of ignorance and arrogance.

You don't know anything about the Security Vote of Governors. And to cut a long story short, Governor Ortom did all those things you are asking about. You are rather being unnecessarily worked up. You people think you can continue to act strategically while taking over the ancestral lands of others. Well. Such a hidden plan will be flatly defeated. You people have been found out. You should better give up. Anyway, no more useless and diversionary arguments. Sorry. The show has passed this stage. We are at the next level. You are late but you can join us. Let me get something straight, this nimcompoo of a governor had information that an attack was about to occur and what did he do? He didn't mobilise the state commissioner of police and the state director of the DSS and immediately arrest the situation, he didn't consult with the traditional rulers of the area, he didn't visit the area to ascertain what was going on, he didn't notify the Brigadier general in the closest military formation, he didnt visit the IG of police in Abuja or the DG of the DSS, all he did was write a letter to Abuja to cry about an attack when the President and VP have millions of letters on their desks. When Don waney killed 41 people in Rivers last month, Wike didn't cry on TV that he wrote letters, he mobilised the local DSS and police plus a ransome of N20million to kill the terrorist. Fayose didn't write letters to Abuja when herdsmen were killing farmers, he mobilised the local police. Why is Ortom writing letters to Abuja when lives are at stake? This governor must be the biggest idiot we have in the country.
Doctor please he needs brain surgery

How do you know ortom never did any of those listed above. What confirmation do you have.
The states has no absolute control on the military and police force

You can't compare the havoc that these Fulani herdsmen have caused in Benue to Ekiti.
And of course we all know that if fayose had written letters, it might not had gotten beyond the southwest talkess of getting to the presidency then buhari.
Benues case is a critical one, a priority that needs urgent federal intervention.

Enough of these excuses to exhornorate buhari and presidency on this Fulani herdsmen crisis

If Ortom writes an open letter to PMB, Buhari is finished.

How? Who is holding him back?

What's he going to write that Obasanjo has not written?

He had an understanding with the over 25,000 Fulani people in Benue before the election and got their block votes.

What is Ortom not telling? He is certainly not telling the whole truth.

Benue is just one of Nigeria's 36 states. He has to find out what his colleagues are doing and start doing them to keep his people safe and stop the buck passing. There are herdsmen everywhere and not in Benue alone.

He is the Governor and remains the most responsible for the safety and well being of his people.

How do other Governors use the same military and police that are out of their control to keep their people safe? How has he been managing to keep Benue safe over the past two years?

The Fulani in Benue gave Ortom their block vote to become Governor. Where did things go wrong? Only Ortom can answer that.

Ortom as Governor should start by blaming himself before blaming others. It's irresponsible of him to exonerate himself.

You have got to be kidding me! So you think this governor did everything in his power to avert this massacre? By writing letters to bureaucrats in Abuja in the face of imminent danger, you think Ortom did his very possible best to avert those killings? A governor gets first hand information that there's an imminent threat to life and property and he writes a letter to Abuja to report it. The Chief Security Officer of a State!!! With billions allocated to security every year! He writes a letter to Buhari to do what exactly? So Buhari and Osibanjo will travel down from Abuja to avert the threat! What stupidity!!!! angry

Very true!!!
In other states, the governors take charge and assume their responsibilities as Chief Security Officers. Nobody writes letters in the face of imminent threat to life. You act! Summon the Commissioner of Police, State director of DSS and Military head in the state and visit the area. Chase whoever is causing trouble away!!! Writing letters to Buhari in Abuja for what? So Buhari will go to Benue and do Ortoms job for him? That stupid governor has no clue what it means to be a State Chief Executive in Nigeria!

Let me be very honest with you all; I don't believe Ortom.

And he's the cause of my suspicion.

How? 1. This same Ortom claimed that herdsmen's cattle were rustled and their leader killed hence, the reprisal attack on Agatu land. That was when it happened to the Idoma people Source-Benue State Govt website

http://benuestate.gov.ng/the-process-and-content-of-the-ag…/

So what now changed? Tribe?

2.All these nonsense started happening immediately after he declared amnesty. If he really declared amnesty for safety reasons, why did he make Akwaza a Taskforce leader?

3. You think we should ignore non-payment of salary for now and support anti-herdsmen invasion and that doesn't sound ridiculous to you? Have you been to Asa( after ukplo stream,on your way to Igumale) before? Herdsmen still graze there openly thesame way that they still graze openly in Agatu. Is it because he knows the cattle OWNERS or because it's Idoma land?

Do you even know how much he made from having Agatu IDPs and Makurdi flood victims?

Do you know how much money they have realised from this Logo-Guma incidence so far? And what they did with it?

Are you aware that he paid part-salary of January 2018 and Ignored the 8 months arrears being owed?

Yes, it doesn't sound important to you and the reason is simple- You are either part of the Benue problem or not a civil servant.

You may not even be from Benue State sef

" Ortom, who denied that he was sponsoring a militia group, recalled that before the anti-open grazing law was implemented, herders were given a six-month grace to establish ranches.
"
MUMU GOVERNOR. How can you give people 6 months to establish ranches. People who have been passing that route for centuries. you come one day and say they should establish ranches in six months. What is the hurry. This points to the fact that you caused the killings. Tell the world what happened when your anti grazing law was not obeyed by the herdsmen. the herdsmen are not mad men. if they were not obstructed by force, there could not have been any reprisals.

WHEN THE TRUTH COMES OUT, THIS MATTER WILL BE SETTLED. RIP TO THE DEAD ON BOTH SIDES.

So you think before he wrote to the federal gov, he has not taken steps on the state? I have listened to his interview. If the commissioner of police has instruction not to act, no matter what the Gov does he will not act. if after his letter to Federal Govt nothing happens, then you should know no matter what he did nothing, the police will not act. The Benue case is not the first, it happened, in Enugu, the Security agencies where aware before the incident, but nothing happened. So dont blame the Gov.
