RONALDO DECLINING?

A declining physique can only be part of it. At 33, Ronaldo lacks his old explosiveness, but few players have reinvented themselves as cleverly, the tricky winger (or is he a striker, he can take on both roles at convenient times but) having long evolved into a gladiatorial goal scorer more reliant on movement and finishing.

Many have written him off and rightly so, his poor form in the la Liga has coincided with the bad run of Real Madrid in the La Liga. Imagine penning the first five La Liga top scorers and finding the name of Cristiano missing. Currently Messi with 20 goals leads the goal scorers’ chart and Ronaldo lie in the 6th position with a meagre 11 goals and 2 assists compared with Luis Suarez in second place who has 16 goals and 4 assists.

Ronaldo and his Madrid team are wallowing in 4th place, 17 points adrift of leaders Barcelona and are 10 points behind city rival Atletico Madrid. Alarm bells all pointing to the fact that they are in crisis Mode.
